Polkadot Staking Dashboard: Maintenance and Growth of Polkadot UX Proposal

by Ross Bulat

Summary:

Hello community, Polkadot Staking Dashboard (deployed to https://staking.polkadot.network), is a project that has been managed by Ross Bulat at Parity Technologies for the last 18 months. The success of Polkadot Staking Dashboard has come about by listening to the community’s calls of improving Polkadot UX, making Polkadot more accessible for non-technical users, and making Polkadot more intuitive and fun to use. By doing this with the attractive use case of staking (and by extension, nomination pools), Polkadot users have a reliable, 24/7 operational dApp in https://staking.polkadot.network, in which continued UX enhancements are applied on every update. Staking dashboard has received over 1.2 million page visits over the past 12 months, and users spend over 1 minute on average in the app. It is the premier staking app for Polkadot, offering a feature-rich interface covering both solo staking and nomination pools, with Polkadot, Kusama and Westend support. Intending to supercharge Polkadot consumer apps, this proposal aims to transition the Polkadot Staking Dashboard development and surrounding efforts into a separate entity, external from Parity Technologies, and continue the maintenance and growth of the staking dashboard and surrounding UX products.

Current Progress and Comments:

The staking dashboard available at the Polkadot official website became one of the most important tools that improved the UX of Polkadot users, specially stakers. This proposal is the continuation of the maintenance as well as the inclusion of new features. Moreover, this staking dashboard is now an independent effort, away from Parity and in charge of Ross Bulat. So it can be counted as another decentralization effort just like the RPC proposal.
