I'm Josep, the team lead for the polkadot-api project. I'd like to bring your attention to an exceptional contribution made in a recent Pull Request. This PR stands out because of its significant impact on dApp development, particularly in reducing the bundle sizes of dApp assets. We understand the value of such contributions, as evidenced by our team's previous efforts. One of our team members spent a couple of days researching this issue, and while it was considered a "nice to have" rather than a high priority, our findings (detailed here) only scratched the surface. The work accomplished in this PR, however, has far surpassed our initial efforts.
Current Progress and Comments:
An exceptional contribution to the polkadot-api repository which deserved recognition. It passed due to the low cost of the tip but there was some resistance initially due to the lack of a verified ID on-chain. It didn’t matter in the end since the proposal was passed within a few days.
